2014 APA Show - Cruise down?

Postby Mav75 » Fri Feb 28, 2014 3:12 pm

Who's planning on going to the APA show on March 22?

Last year a few of us cruised down from the Hooters on I-45 and NASA road last year. We left there at 7:15 am and were among the first to register and get decent parking.

Is anyone interested in doing that this year?

Im definitely interested.

If my car and my wallet are on the same page that day than I will definitely be there.

My brother might also be taking his GTA

OK, everyone, the show is quickly approaching!

Nothing major has changed since last year, so what you're about to read has been taken from last year's thread:

March 22nd is the 31st Anniversary of the American Pontiac Association's Spring Car Show on the Strand in Galveston. It is an open car show open to ALL makes and models, not just Pontiacs. It's located at Pier 21 in Galveston at 21st St. & Harborside Drive, behind the Harborside Hotel.

Registration is from 8am to noon. There is a $30 entry fee, which buys you a spot in the show and tickets to win door prizes, but it is free for spectators not showing their cars. There are also free shirts and dashboard plaques for the first 100 entries. Here's the link to the show's flyer:

http://americanpontiacassociation.us/2014-spring-car-show-2/

We will meet behind the Hooters on 45 South. The address is 20790 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX, between Bay Area and Nasa Parkway (Nasa Road 1). We'll meet at 7:00 and roll out at 7:15 SHARP. We'll cruise down as a group, and arrive at the show early in the registration process. Getting there early is a good idea, because it increases our odds of being at the front of the line and getting a good block of parking spots together. Here is the parking lot behind the Hooters:

Since we are all going down together, it would be nice to eat lunch together. Let's say lunch at 12:00 or 12:30pm, somewhere within walking distance of the show. If anyone has any preferences or suggestions, please let us know. Here is a list of the dining available on the strand:

http://www.thestrand.com/dining.php

Things to bring:

1. Your freshly washed and waxed F-Body
2. Cell Phone
3. FULL tank of gas
4. Your HFB shirt or decals, if you have them
5. Money for entry fee ($30) into the show, and lunch
6. Whatever else you need for a day in Galveston

This should be a really fun day for everyone. Last year, about 5 of us took home trophies!

Who is interested in going and meeting up?

That was your car? I was drooling over it yesterday thinking about what great shape it was in and how fast it must be! Didn't you get an award? It's too bad we didn't get to meet personally. Maybe next month!

Hi Mav,
Yea I am sorry we missed each other. Your TA looked awesome. No awards for me with those 2 high dollar 79s showing. Those guys had a lot of money in those birds but I would be afraid to drive em so that takes the fun out of owning one. Soon as it started sprinkling I bolted out of there as the ttop weather stripping is completely shot. I cant find replacement for Cars and Concepts TTops so I am at a weather disadvantage until I can find someone who can make one from scratch.
I will do my best to make it up to meet you guys on the 15th, weather permitting :D
